Water quality characteristics of slaughter wastewater

Slaughter wastewater is generally reddish-brown with an unpleasant fishy smell, which contains a lot of blood, oil, fat, animal hair, meat scraps, bone scraps, visceral debris, undigested food, feces and other dirt, solid suspension The material content is high.
The slaughter wastewater has high organic content and good biodegradability. The high concentration of organic matter is not easy to degrade, and the treatment is difficult. The nutrients in the wastewater are mainly nitrogen and phosphorus. Among them, nitrogen mainly exists in the form of organic matter or ammonium salt, and phosphorus is mainly Exist in the form of phosphate.
After understanding the water quality, it is the process choice. Before choosing a process, let’s look at the discharge standards. The current standard is "Water Pollutant Discharge Standard for Meat Processing Industry-GB13457-1992".

Selection direction of slaughter wastewater treatment


Chemical method


The chemical methods commonly used to treat slaughter wastewater mainly include hydrolysis, coagulation and sedimentation, etc. This method is generally used as the pretreatment of wastewater, and can also be used as the final treatment of wastewater.

Biological method


According to the characteristics of slaughter wastewater, it has good biodegradability, and it is more suitable for biological treatment in terms of organic content, organic element type and pH value. Therefore, the biological method is an economical and effective treatment method in the selection of slaughter wastewater treatment technology.

Anaerobic biological treatment


The anaerobic biological treatment method is mainly used to treat high-concentration organic wastewater. Many improved anaerobic methods are used in the treatment of slaughter wastewater.
