When designing the pipework of an aeration system, it is important that the head losses within the manifolds and lateral pipes are small compared to the resistance of the diffusers. This should be observed in order to obtain an even air distribution in the entire aeration grid.
Typically, if head losses in the air piping between the last airflow split and the farthest diffuser are less than 10 % of the
head loss across the diffusers, good air distribution through the aeration basin can be maintained, independent of pipe
configuration.
