    Decanter centrifuge description

    A high-speed decanter centrifuge for pharmaceutical and biotechnology applications is a specialized machine designed for fine particle separation and clarification in GMP-compliant environments. It is used for fermentation broth clarification, antibiotic recovery, cell separation, protein recovery, and vaccine production. The equipment operates at high speeds to capture fine particles and achieve high separation efficiency.

    The DAGYEE pharmaceutical decanter features sanitary SS316L construction, electropolished surfaces, and CIP/SIP compatibility, meeting the strict hygiene and quality requirements of the pharmaceutical industry.     How does a decanter centrifuge work?

    The Process Flow:

    Step 1: Feed Entry
    The fermentation broth or biological suspension enters the centrifuge through a sanitary feed pipe, passing through the hollow shaft of the screw conveyor into the distribution chamber within the bowl.

    Step 2: High-Speed Centrifugal Separation
    The rotating bowl generates high centrifugal forces (up to 3500 G) that separate fine particles from the liquid phase. The denser solid particles are thrown outward against the bowl wall, while the clarified liquid moves toward the center.

    Step 3: Gentle Solids Conveying
    The screw conveyor rotates at a slightly different speed, gently conveying the settled solids along the bowl wall and pushing them up the conical beach section. The low differential speed minimizes shear on biological materials.

    Step 4: Liquid Discharge
    The clarified liquid overflows adjustable dam plates at the large-diameter end of the bowl. The liquid level can be adjusted to optimize separation performance.

    Step 5: Solids Discharge
    The separated solids discharge through the solids outlet at the conical end. The discharge is continuous and automatic.

    Step 6: CIP/SIP Cleaning
    The decanter is designed for CIP cleaning and SIP sterilization. Cleaning agents and steam are circulated through the machine without disassembly, ensuring sanitary operation and minimizing downtime between batches.
