    String-Wound Filter Cartridge – Depth Filtration for High-Dirt-Holding & Economical Liquid Purification


    When you need reliable sediment removal without spending a fortune, string-wound filter cartridges have been the industry workhorse for decades. They are simple, effective, and remarkably cost-efficient. The design is straightforward: a continuous strand of yarn is tightly wound around a perforated core, creating a dense filtration medium with depth loading characteristics.

    The DAGYEE String-Wound Filter Cartridge provides excellent sediment removal for a wide range of applications. The continuous winding process creates a graded density structure—the outer layers are loose, trapping larger particles, while the inner layers are tighter, capturing finer particles. This design provides high dirt-holding capacity and long service life at a very economical price point.

    This cartridge is ideal for industrial water treatment, pre-filtration before reverse osmosis, chemical processing, cooling water systems, and general sediment removal. If you need a reliable, cost-effective filter for removing suspended solids, string-wound cartridges deliver consistent performance without breaking the budget.


    How the System Works


    String-wound filters are fundamentally different from pleated or membrane cartridges. They do not rely on surface filtration. Instead, they provide depth filtration through a thick matrix of wound yarn.

    The Winding Process
    A continuous strand of yarn is wound around a perforated core under controlled tension. The winding pattern is carefully designed to create a graded density structure. The outer layers are wound with less tension, creating larger pores. As the winding progresses toward the core, tension increases, creating progressively tighter pores.

    Depth Filtration Mechanism
    When liquid passes through the cartridge, particles are captured throughout the thickness of the wound yarn. Large particles are trapped near the outer surface. Medium particles penetrate deeper into the matrix. Fine particles are captured near the core. This depth loading mechanism spreads particles across the entire thickness of the cartridge, providing high dirt-holding capacity and long service life.

    Graded Density Advantage
    The graded density structure is the key to the performance of string-wound cartridges. If the density were uniform, particles would only be captured on the surface. The graded density allows particles of different sizes to be captured at different depths, maximizing the dirt-holding capacity of the cartridge.

    Compatibility
    String-wound cartridges are available in standard dimensions and fit most industrial filter housings. They use DOE (double open-end) or various adapter configurations. No special housings are required.



    The housing is equipped with vent and drain ports for efficient system startup, pressure relief, and complete drainage during maintenance.

    Pre-Treatment & Installation

    nstallation Requirements:

    • Level, stable mounting surface (concrete pad or steel frame)

    • Access for cartridge change-out (adequate clearance above housing)

    • Inlet and outlet piping with appropriate connections

    • Pressure gauge ports for system monitoring

    • Vent and drain connections for maintenance

    Pre-Installation Checks:

    • Verify housing material compatibility with process fluid

    • Confirm pressure and temperature ratings meet system requirements

    • Ensure seals and gaskets are compatible with fluid chemistry

    • Check that housing connections match existing piping

    • Inspect housing for shipping damage before installation

    Installation Steps:

    1. Position housing on mounting surface and secure legs

    2. Connect inlet and outlet piping (support heavy piping separately)

    3. Install pressure gauges in gauge ports

    4. Connect vent and drain lines as required

    5. Install filter cartridges (ensure correct orientation and sealing)

    6. Close and secure housing cover

    7. Slowly pressurize and check for leaks
