    Decanter centrifuge description

    A decanter centrifuge for the chemical and petrochemical industry is a specialized machine designed for continuous solid-liquid separation in aggressive chemical environments. It handles chemical slurries, catalyst recovery, hydrocarbon separation, polymer dewatering, and petrochemical effluent treatment. The equipment consists of a rotating bowl and a screw conveyor that continuously transports settled solids to the discharge end. The bowl rotates at high speed, generating centrifugal forces that separate components of different densities . The feed mixture enters the rotating bowl, where denser solid particles are thrown outward against the bowl wall, while the lighter liquid phase forms an inner layer. The screw conveyor transports the settled solids to the conical end for discharge, while the clarified liquid overflows at the opposite end .

    Chemical and petrochemical streams are often corrosive, contain solvents, or have extreme pH values. The DAGYEE chemical decanter is built with corrosion-resistant materials such as SS316L, duplex stainless steel, Hastelloy, and titanium, with specialized seals and coatings to handle these demanding conditions . It operates continuously and automatically, processing high volumes of chemical slurries with low operating costs.

    How does a decanter centrifuge work?

    The Process Flow:

    Step 1: Slurry Feed
    The mining slurry enters the centrifuge through a stationary feed pipe, passing through the hollow shaft of the screw conveyor into the distribution chamber within the bowl.

    Step 2: Centrifugal Separation
    The rotating bowl generates centrifugal forces that accelerate the settling of solid particles against the bowl wall. The denser mineral particles are thrown outward, while the liquid phase moves toward the center.

    Step 3: Solids Conveying
    The screw conveyor rotates at a slightly different speed, "ploughing" the settled solids along the bowl wall and pushing them up the conical beach section. The conveyor flights are protected with tungsten carbide hardfacing to resist abrasion.

    Step 4: Solids Dewatering
    As the solids are conveyed up the beach, they are squeezed against the bowl wall, releasing residual water. The dewatered solids discharge through the solids outlet at the conical end.

    Step 5: Liquid Discharge
    The clarified liquid overflows adjustable dam plates at the large-diameter end. The liquid phase can be returned to the process or discharged.

    Step 6: Continuous, Automatic Operation
    The process runs continuously and automatically, handling variable feed conditions without operator intervention.
